Thelma Kathryn Williams, 93, peacefully passed away on January 22, 2024, at Arkansas Continued Care Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 4, 1930, in Judsonia, Arkansas, to the late William Virgil and Mary H. Miller, Thelma spent her entire life in the Jonesboro area. She was a dedicated member of Greensboro Church of Christ and a devoted student of the Bible.
Thelma's passions included nurturing plants, tending to her garden, marveling at waterfalls, and embracing the beauty of the outdoors. She had a special love for animals, cats, and birds. Thelma found joy in creating various things, displaying her talents in sewing, cooking, and in serving and taking care of others. A proud graduate of Nettleton High School, she further pursued her education at Arkansas State University.
In her teenage years, Thelma contributed to the family legacy by working alongside her mother at the renowned Miller's Cafe in Jonesboro. In addition to her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde D. Williams, son Clyde Wayne Williams, sister Marie Park, and brother Maurice Miller.
Thelma is survived by two daughters, Reba (David) Dye and Kathy Williams, both of Jonesboro; one grandchild, Angela Marie Williams; nieces, Shelia (Bob) Shumpert, Sherry Simpson, Shirley Park, and Sandra (Donald) Barker; and brother-in-law, Almond (Belva) Williams.
A visitation is scheduled from 1-2 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Emerson Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 2 pm officiated by Terry Joe Key with Almond Williams speaking. Thelma will be laid to rest at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Active pallbearers include: Steve Stoker, David Dye, Jerry Dodson, Barry Roush, Randy Oden, and Hal Baugh.
