Patricia Dianne Dorton, 76, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at her home of natural causes.
Dianne was born in Jonesboro and lived most of her life here. She was a 1966 graduate of Jonesboro High School and had a thirty five year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She began working at the telephone company as a switchboard operator and retired as a supervisor and manager.
Dianne was a member of North Main Baptist Church and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She enjoyed shopping, spending much time at the lake house on Norfork where she enjoyed fishing and entertaining her family and friends. But her greatest joy came from being with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: Jimmy and Dorothy Lewis Garner.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Wayne Dorton, of the home;
1 daughter, Valeria Gibson Moss and husband Ken Moss of Bono;
1 son, Jammey Dorton of Jonesboro;
1 brother, Rusty Garner and Rosie O'Bourke of Florida;
3 grandchildren: Ashlynn Long and husband Jason, Beau Gibson and Zane Dorton;
3 great grandchildren: Ethan Long, Peyton Long and Jakob Gibson; and
a niece, Holly Garner and husband Dave Dettloff, and several other additional nephews, nieces and friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Emerson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday morning in the Mausoleum Chapel in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Entombment will follow in the Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers include Zane Dorton, Ken Moss, Jason Long, Ethan Long, Gary Arnold and Ryan Miller.
