John Howard Headrick, 90, of Bay passed from this life on February 26, 2024, at his home. Howard was born in Swifton on January 11, 1934, to the late William and Nonie Headrick. In addition to his parents, Howard is preceded in death by 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and 1 daughter.
Howard was a lifelong resident of northeast Arkansas. He served three years with the United States Navy and seventeen years working on a riverboat. But Howard spent the majority of his life as a carpenter. He was quite skilled and constantly in demand by friends and family members. Howard built most of his family’s furniture and even built a boat. He was always working with his hands. In Howard’s free time, he loved gardening. He would plant potatoes for the season every year on St. Patrick’s Day. Howard also loved his animals, Chubby and Queenie. Most importantly, he loved being with his family.
Howard is survived by his wife of 30 years, Betty Headrick, of the home; 1 step-child; and 5 nieces.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Friday, March 1, 2024, at Emerson Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
