Jimmy Terrell, 71, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at his residence.
Jimmy was born in Newport and lived most of his life in the Jonesboro area. He was of the Methodist faith, a 1970 graduate of Jonesboro High School, and a U.S. Army veteran. Following discharge from his military service, Jimmy began his life's work as a bricklayer, often working alongside his good friend, Ray Wood. Jimmy worked over forty years in Northeast Arkansas and is still known for his superior craftsmanship in masonry.
Jimmy was a talker, a storyteller, and had a nickname for everyone. He thoroughly enjoyed hosting friends and family in his basement shop, where many of those stories were told and music from the 1960's and 70's was often playing. Some of his fondest memories were traveling with his family, making many trips to the lake and Florida during his kids' younger years. For forty years, Jimmy's number one hobby was his house, constantly working on projects and modifications down to the most minute detail. He loved being outside and he was a huge animal lover. He loved many dogs in his lifetime and was always quick to help care for his granddogs too. But above all else, Jimmy delighted in spending time with his friends and family, especially his granddaughter, Stella.
Jimmy was preceded in death by father Cherry Terrell, mother Helen Epperson Terrell, sister Susan Graham, brother-in-law Denny Graham, brother Johnny Terrell and daughter-in law Lannie Mecom.
Survivors include his son Jonathan (Brooke) Terrell of Georgia, daughter Jenny (Ty) Keller and granddaughter Stella Keller of Jonesboro; also numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and other friends and acquaintances.
A graveside funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
Pallbearers include Mat Clark, James Clem, Dale Hall, Scott Lemmons, John McPike, Steve Moody, John Payne, Jerry Powers, Mike Simmons, Jeb Spencer, Jack Thorn, Darroll Vaughn and Harold Watson
In lieu of flowers the family asks that consideration be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
