Janie S. Ellison Dunn

Janie Ellison Dunn passed away on January 31, 2024, at the Flo and Phil Hospice House. She was born at St. Bernards on December 28, 1952, to Mack and Marie Ellison. 

One of eleven children, Janie was raised in Cash on the family farm. She was a graduate of Westside High School and went on to work as a lead dispatcher at World Color retiring after a 30+ year career. 

When she wasn’t working, Janie enjoyed cooking and baking and was well known for her chicken and dressing and desserts. She always made the holidays special with her homecooked meals. Janie also enjoyed taking family fishing trips and spending time with her family. Janie’s greatest joy in life came from her two daughters, six granddaughters, and four great-grandsons. 

In addition to her parents, Janie is preceded in death by her twin brother, Jim Ellison; brother, Calvin Ellison; and sisters, Cleta Faye Ellison and Eva Pruitt.

Janie is survived by her daughters, Tina (Steve) Toombs of Nashville, Tennessee and Trichia Sloan of Jonesboro; brothers, W.M. (Doris) Ellison of Jackson, Tennessee, Norman (Janis) Ellison of Bono, Wayne (Bonnie) Ellison of Jonesboro, Butch (Linda) Ellison of Jonesboro, and Tom Ellison of Jonesboro; sister, Maxine Everett of Norwich, Connecticut; grandchildren, Britney Toombs, Tiffany Toombs, Macaylie Dunn, Mattie Mathis, Tiarah Montgomery, and Taliah Montgomery Ellison; and great-grandchildren, Derion Dunn, Kayden Dunn, Liam Dunn, and Isiah Dunn. 

Visitation will be held at Emerson Memorial Chapel from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Don Martin officiating. Janie will be laid to rest at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
