Gregory A. Walter

Gregory Alan Walter, 68, of Jonesboro passed away from this life on February 3, 2024, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born to Charles and Magdalene Walter on July 5, 1955, in Newport, Rhode Island. He was raised in Jonesboro and attended Nettleton High School where he played football, baseball, ran track, and graduated in 1973. He attended Arkansas State University where he played football and graduated with a B.S.N. in 1996.

Greg owned several small businesses in Jonesboro, including This & That in the Indian Mall, Co-Owner of Cece’s Blessed Boutique and was the first person in Jonesboro to do airbrush T-shirts.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Walter; sister, Angela Walter Foster; and mother-in-law, Suzanna Coonce. 

Greg is survived by his wife, Cecilia Alexander-Walter, of the home; his mother, Magdalene Walter, of Jonesboro; his sister, Kathy (Paul) Thornton of Jonesboro; his daughters, Jennifer Walter French of Jonesboro, Stacia (Ronnie) Presley of Gulf Shores, Alabama; and sons, John Alexander of the home and Logan (Ashton) Alexander of Jonesboro, Ray Alexander-Dukemiener of Texas; grandchildren, Kyla French, Harmonie (Karim) Zaraf, Nathaniel (Laura) Lawson, Lucas Thompson, Trevor Alexander, Trace Alexander, Carson Alexander Forehand, Rohan Alexander, and 6 great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Spencer Furby officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial to follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Logan Alexander, Lucas Thompson, Nathaniel Lawson, Brandon Thorton, Paul Thorton, and Kyla French serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Trevor Alexander, Carson Forehand, Trace Alexander, Dell Parker, and Rohan Alexander.
