Gertrude A. Young

Gertrude Avalene Young, 96, of North Little Rock, departed this life on November 26, 2023. Born on January 5, 1927, to William "Tom" and Gertrude (Pyle) Coleman, she lived a life devoted to faith, family, and simple pleasures. A faithful member of Baring Cross Baptist Church, she actively served in the Mission Society Baptist Church. Gertrude's green thumb thrived in her beloved garden, and her nimble fingers created cherished stitches in her sewing. Yet, her greatest joy was found in the laughter and warmth of her grandchildren. Church and family were the most important things in her life. Her legacy of love and devotion remains eternally in the hearts she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Julius, Oneil, Floyd, Lloyd, Sidney, Hale, Tommy, and Billy; Son-in-law, Bobby Battie.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Battie of North Little Rock; Her grandson, Brian Battie of Cabot; her great-grandson, Brandon Battie (Ali) of Cabot; her great-great grandsons, Cooper, Bentley and Gage. 

Graveside service will be at 10:00a.m. on Wednesday, November29, 2023, at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro.
