Billy Anderson

Billy Anderson, 80, of Lake City, passed away on December 5, 2023, at the Conway Regional Medical Center. Billy was born on February 21, 1943, in Huntsville, Alabama, to Charlie Anderson and Dorothy Hayes Anderson. 

Billy lived in Lake City since 1968 and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, taught Sunday school, drove the church bus, and served on several committees. After several years in manufacturing management, Billy opened his own business, Bill’s Southland Station, which he owned and operated for 20 years. Billy then went on to serve as mayor of Lake City for four years before retiring. 

He loved helping people and serving his community and church. Billy was a selfless man and always thought of others first; he often checked on the elderly women in his neighborhood and made sure their cars were winterized. Billy was truly loved and will always be remembered by his smile.

In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his brother, Roy Anderson and sister, Irene Cromwell.

Billy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lilly Anderson, of the home; daughter, Debbie (Terry) Mays of Conway; grandchildren, Travis (Jordan) Mays of Conway and Clayton (Micha) Mays of Jonesboro; great-granddaughter, Lenzey of Conway; brother, Buford Anderson of Heber Springs; sisters, Stella Kash of Heber Springs and Shirley Medlin of Lake City; several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

A visitation will be held at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023. A graveside service will take place at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 with Bro. Ron Langston officiating.
